Over the years, I’ve tried almost everything from gear oil (SAE 90 grade) to Motul C2 and a bunch of traditional oily lubes. The problem? They made a mess of my rims, attracted dust, and flung all over the place. That’s when I switched to white chain lubes.
In this post, I’m comparing two that I’ve been using extensively Putoline Tech Chain Lube and Rolon White Chain Lube. Both have their pros and cons, and depending on the bike you ride, one may suit you better than the other.

Which motorcycles I use it on: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 (highway riding)
I use Putoline only on my Interceptor 650. Why? Because it’s expensive, and I mostly ride the Interceptor on highways where the chain stays clean and out of mud. The Interceptor’s chain kit itself is expensive, so using a premium lube that extends its life makes sense.

Which motorcycles I use it on: Yamaha RX135 & RX100 (mixed off-road + on-road, wet & dry conditions)
On my RX135 and RX100, I prefer Rolon White Chain Lube. It’s affordable, widely available, and works well even in tougher mixed conditions like off-road or wet rides. Since the RX chain kits are relatively cheap (cheaper than even 1 can of Putoline LOL), Rolon is a practical choice.
